Jujutsu Kaisen Gojo’s 8 choices that changed the course of the jujutsu world forever
Despite being one of the series’ most despised characters by its founder, author, and artist Gege Akutami, Satoru Gojo is also one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s most influential characters. He is a continual influence in changing the jujutsu world, whether he means to be or not, owing to his skills and abilities, as well as his heritage.
Indeed, many of Satoru Gojo’s selections in the Jujutsu Kaisen series cascade and overlap in some manner, shape, or form. The most important thing this tells about Gojo is that everything he does will have an effect on the jujutsu world in some way, shape, or form.
Killing Toji, faking Yuji’s death, and 6 other choices from Gojo that forever changed Jujutsu Kaisen’s world of jujutsu
1) Not handing Riko Amanai over
Beginning with Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo’s past arc, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto’s refusal to give up Riko Amanai has various repercussions in the jujutsu world. The forced development of Master Tengen is without a doubt the most significant. As a result, he has become Kenjaku’s target as of the Culling Game storyline, with terrible consequences for mankind if the latter succeeds.
There’s also the fact that it signals the start of a major shift in Suguru Geto’s personality. This finally transforms him into the sorcerer seen in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 series, allowing him to become Kenjaku in the mainstream series. Essentially, the majority of the series’ overall events can be traced back to this one pivotal choice.
2) Killing Toji Zenin
The Gojo’s Past arc of Jujutsu Kaisen uncovers several unexpected elements of Gojo’s character and past, as well as those of the other characters involved. The entrance of Toji Zenin, a fan favorite, is one of the most thrilling elements of the arc. While supporters were saddened by Gojo’s assassination of Toji Zenin, it was done for a cause.
Toji Zenin’s death meant the Zenin clan had lost one of their most valuable assets: an assassin who could murder without utilizing Cursed Energy. While there are several implications, the most significant is that his son, Megumi Fushiguro, will be exposed to the world of jujutsu.
This, in turn, had long-term implications that rocked one jujutsu clan to its core.
3) Not disposing of Suguru’s body properly
While Satoru Gojo killed his former closest friend Suguru Geto cleanly, he did not properly dispose of Geto’s corpse. Rather of handing it over to authorities or returning it to Tokyo Jujutsu High, Gojo just abandons Geto’s body where it dies, enabling Kenjaku to take over and cure the corpse.
This, in turn, resulted in the events shown in the mainstream Jujutsu Kaisen manga, culminating with Gojo being imprisoned in the prison world by Kenjaku in Geto’s body (Brain Geto). Given that there would be no plot if Gojo hadn’t abandoned Geto’s corpse in the streets, it’s undeniably one of his most significant choices.
4) Introducing Yuta Okkotsu to jujutsu
Satoru Gojo’s introduction of Yuta Okkotsu to jujutsu had several long-lasting ramifications, making it one of his most influential decisions in the jujutsu world. One of the most significant is the inclusion of yet another Special Grade sorcerer, Yuta, who joins Yuki Tsukumo, Suguru Geto, and Satoru Gojo as the fourth.
There are also Yuta’s activities during Jujutsu Kaisen’s Itadori’s Extermination arc, in which he saves Yuji’s life and joins forces with him against the jujutsu higher-ups. While the entire consequence of this decision has yet to be seen, it will undoubtedly continue to have an influence on the jujutsu community at large, and it can all be linked back to Gojo admitting Yuta to Tokyo Jujutsu High.
5) Introducing Yuji Itadori to the jujutsu world
Similarly, bringing Yuji Itadori to the jujutsu world at the start of the core Jujutsu Kaisen series started a seemingly never-ending chain of influence in the jujutsu world. The greatest immediate consequence was that Yuji provided a method to completely eliminate Sukuna due to his compatibility with the King of Curses as his vessel.
His exposure to the realm of jujutsu ultimately leads to a conflict between the prior generation and the new generation of sorcerers, with Gojo’s class serving as the dividing line. Without a question, it’s one of Gojo’s most significant selections in the series thus far.
6) Faking Yuji’s death
Similarly, faking Yuji’s death exacerbates this schism and the problems that develop as a consequence of it. Yuji’s survival is basically Gojo giving Yoshinobu Gakuganji the middle finger. The latter is a member of Jujutsu Kaisen’s jujutsu higher-ups as well as the principal of the Kyoto school.
It also designates Yuji and Gojo as targets for the higher-ups, who finally act on it by declaring Gojo an accomplice to Geto and ordering Yuji’s death. This, in turn, lays the stage for the events of the Culling Game arc, in which Tokyo Jujutsu High students and their friends are compelled to attempt to right Kenjaku’s wrongs on their own.
7) Setting Megumi up for success
Especially in light of Maki’s killing of the Zenin clan, Gojo’s decision to make Megumi Fushiguro the next clan chief in the event of his incapacity is a very significant one. It basically resets all of the clan’s traditions to zero, with the offspring of a Cursed-Energy-less man taking over as head.
While Megumi has Cursed Energy, Ogi Zenin’s monologues show that the degree of Cursed Energy in one’s descendants might alter one’s viability for leadership positions. This requirement would probably be a two-way street between parents and adults, making this one of Gojo’s most consequential decisions in Jujutsu Kaisen.
8) Allowing Maki to attend Tokyo Jujutsu High
Finally, enabling Maki Zenin to attend Tokyo Jujutsu High is certainly one of Gojo’s most influential decisions in Jujutsu Kaisen. One of the less-noticed repercussions is Maki’s performance demonstrating that Cursed Energy isn’t always required to become a powerful sorcerer, which she does every day.
There’s also the long-term consequence of Maki’s jujutsu training, which led to the Zenin clan’s bloodbath and demise. It’s a choice with far-reaching consequences, both visible and unseen in the series so far. It is without a doubt one of Gojo’s most significant selections in the history of jujutsu.
